Are you interested in bringing one of our leadership workshops to your student organization, class, staff or department? You can now request a workshop from the Leading as a Cardinal Team! We offer a wide variety of workshops - from communication styles to leading an organization to conflict resolution - and we also have the ability to create a workshop that is specific to the needs of your group. The focus of these workshops is to discuss different relevant leadership topics in order to help groups develop key leadership skills needed to work together successfully as a group.

To request a workshop, please fill out this Workshop Request Form. In this form, you can share more about your group, identify the workshop of interest for your group and share your group's availability.To help with the selection of your workshop, you can review the pre-developed workshop topics below to give you an idea of what we can offer in a workshop. The Leading as a Cardinal Team will then review all the information and respond with an outline of a workshop and a plan for moving forward. If you don’t see a topic for your group, or you want a workshop with more than one of these topics, there will be a section on the form to build your own workshop using these pre-developed workshops and other leadership topics. 


Leading as a Cardinal Workshops 

  • How to Inspire Others as Leaders
    • This workshop was designed using the The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership - Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act and Encourage the Heart. Each of these practices are an essential part of what a leader needs to inspire others and this workshop reviews each of these practices while including discussion questions for the group to dive deeper into each of these topics. This workshop would be helpful for student leaders or club and organization e-board’s to understand their impact on other students and identify ways that they can grow as leaders. 
  • Skills for Leading a Successful Team
    • This workshop focuses on different skills that are important to the success of a team. This includes team building, the importance of collaboration and delegation, how to initiate collaboration and delegation, how to identify and build on team strengths, and creating goals as a team. This workshop would be helpful for any groups of people who are working together (student organizations or clubs, staff) as it truly focuses on how to be both a successful team member and a leader on a team.
  • Managing Difficult Conversations and Developing Emotional Intelligence
    • This workshop focuses on difficult conversations that are typical within groups and goes over different ways to have successful difficult conversations along with learning about emotional intelligence and how your emotions impact and influence those around you. This workshop would be helpful for groups who want more support in how to have productive conversations within their group and want to learn more about how their emotions impact the group they are leading, especially in these conversations.
  • Becoming an Inclusive Leader 
    • This workshop focuses on the concept of inclusive leadership, which includes defining important terms, identifying pathways to becoming an inclusive leader, how to recognize unconscious biases and how to create inclusive spaces for others. This workshop would be helpful for groups who are wanting to educate themselves on inclusivity from a leadership lens and for those who want to ensure they can support all members of their community.
  • Redefining Student Leadership
    • This workshop focuses on the role of a student leader and how it is constantly changing and evolving. This workshop discusses the definition of student leadership, how to motivate and lead other peers, how to avoid burnout, the pressures and challenges of being a student leader and how to identify growth and goals as a student leader. This workshop would be helpful for student leaders of all varieties, from those wanting to get more involved to those who are over involved, to help with understanding the role of a student leader.   
  • Confronting and Conquering Conflict 
    • This workshop focuses on all things conflict management - understanding how conflict can impact the success of a group, how communication and conflict are connected, the different styles of conflict management and how to address conflict as a leader. This workshop would be helpful for groups that want more support in addressing conflict within their group and for groups who want to learn more about a very important leadership skill. 
  • Effective Communication and Conversations
    • This workshop focuses on the importance of communication, terms to remove from our vocabulary as leaders, understanding difficult conversations as a leader, tips and tricks to address them, and identifying your communication style and how this impacts the success of a group. This workshop would be helpful for groups that want to improve their communication and improve their ability to have successful difficult conversations, especially with their peers.
  • Developing Leaders in Your Community
    • This workshop focuses on the topic of community leadership - the importance of developing community leadership, how it impacts the success of a community, assessing yourself as a leader, the skills of a community leader and how to create visions and goals for a group for the betterment of the community. This workshop would be helpful for a group of student leaders who are tasked with leading peers in their community and for student organizations and clubs that want to function better as both a group and members of the greater community.  
  • Building Strong Relationships within your Organization or Club
    • This workshop focuses on building strong relationships within an organization or club, the importance of trust and responsibility within an organization or club and how to work together to reach the goals of the organization. This workshop would be helpful for student organizations or clubs that want to work on the relationships within their group, especially if there are newer members, and for those who maybe have had conflict in their group in the past.  
  • Transitioning as a Student Organization or Club
    • This workshop focuses on the many transitions of student organizations - new executive board members, changes in the goals of the organization, restarting an organization, and finding new members. This workshop would be helpful for student organizations or clubs going through a transition and want to learn more about the resources and tools available to be successful during that transition.
