Launching into Leadership is a week-long event during the Spring Semester that includes different leadership events and activities across campus. Our goal for this week is to build community through leadership. Throughout the week, each day will include activities and workshops hosted by different offices and student organizations across campus, including the Center for Cultural Engagement, Office of Campus Activities, Dean of Students, and more.

Monday, March 4 - Excelling in the Internship 

  • Join us in Garvey Hall 120 to learn from a panel of students and graduates the best practices in landing and excelling in your desired internship, along with personal stories and advice from those who have the experience! Check out our event on the Nest here

Tuesday, March 21 - Keynote Speaker

  • We are excited to bring a Keynote Speaker to campus - Cash Ashley! Chris 'Cash' Ashley is an Enterprise Account Manager at Amazon Web Services, driving innovation with customers in the healthcare life sciences industry. Beyond his professional role, Cash serves as the President of Amazon's Black Employee Network (BEN), DMV Chapter, actively engaged in both local and global leadership for over three years. Cash has also significantly impacted Amazon's culture as a volunteer emotional intelligence facilitator, delivering more than 100 workshops to over 6,000 Amazonians and customers. Outside of Amazon, he dedicates his time to community service. For over a decade, Cash has volunteered as a mentor for College Bound Inc., a program supporting DC public high school students in their journey to college. Additionally, Cash serves on the board of the Alexandria Boys and Girls Club. To further enrich his impressive portfolio, he also serves as a part-time adjunct professor at Georgetown University, where he teaches strategic human development and acts as a capstone advisor.Check out our event on the Nest here

Wednesday, March 22 - Headshots and How To’s with CACS!

  • Leadership and career development go hand in hand, so we have teamed up with our friends in the Center for Academic and Career Success for Headshots and How To’s: a new event which allows students to get a headshot and learn how to ace a leadership and career development topic! For this workshop, we are going to talk about How To Interview! Students will be able to receive LinkedIn tips from the CACS team, complete a quick resume review and interview prep session, and get their headshot taken, all while enjoying free lunch!
